What is a Make Up Air Unit? 

Make-up air units are a type of mechanical equipment designed to consistently push fresh outdoor air into an indoor space. MUA systems play a crucial role in air rate exchange, delivering high volumes of air to be recirculated back into the building space.   

As ventilation and exhaust systems work to remove warm air and contaminants from buildings, a controlled source of replacement ambient air is needed to keep indoor spaces at neutral air pressure. Otherwise, unintended methods of replacing air result in adverse outcomes such as poor IAQ, process downtime and HVAC equipment working harder for lesser results.
