Challenge – Power Plant Requires Custom Metal Mesh Air Filter Be Designed
Fine airborne particle pollution from US coal plant emissions consist of a complex mixture of soot, heavy metals, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Plant maintenance from a busy Midwest facility were in the market for a number of washable, corrosion resistant air filters to work in their system. After reviewing a sample of the Model IN (polypropylene and stainless steel) and Model MMA (aluminum mesh), they determined that one model would catch too much and clog too fast, and the other model wouldn’t catch enough airborne particulates. A combination of both metal mesh and electrostatic polypropylene custom air filters were needed in this type of HVAC application.
Solution – Custom Metal Mesh Air Filter With Corrugated Polypropylene
Permatron custom designed a filter to meet the power plant’s needs using a combination of aluminum mesh and corrugated aluminum with PermaCool®, a unique 1/4″ corrugated, electrostatic polypropylene held within a corrosion resistant stainless steel frame. The stainless steel frame contains drainage holes for thorough cleaning.
