Challenge – Daikin Ductless Mini-Split Rooftop Units Damaged by Hail
A healthy environment at schools is vital to every community. An elementary school in Tennesee, that educates 350 children each year, was getting hit with extensive hail damage to their HVAC system. The school installed 52 Daikin mini-split units on their rooftop because of their ductless flexibility and state of the art technology for conditioning individual school rooms based on changing occupancy levels. The units are energy efficient, have precise temperature control and they run quietly so students can better focus on their lessons. Unfortunately the units are also the perfect target for hail storms to crush their delicate aluminum fins, blocking necessary air flow to the system.
Solution – Hail Guard Netting from Permatron
Rigid black polypropylene netting is available in 54″ x 50 linear foot service rolls for cut-to-fit installations on any sized roof top units. The netting is UV protected, rot resistant, weather resistant and abrasion & corrosion resistant. Installation is made easy with by using plastic mounting clips with a moveable tab that opens and closes (locks) for easy hail guard installation and removal for unit cleaning.
